Sweetheart Update

Howdy Seminole County Cattlemen!

It’s almost that time of year again for Seminole County’s Junior Ranch Rodeo! This year, the rodeo will be on March 30th; also on that day, we will be celebrating Seminole County’s 100 year anniversary. I know I speak for everyone when I say that I can’t wait for this special, one of a kind event!

I know it has been awhile since I last updated the SCCA Sweetheart Diary, so let me catch ya’ll up to what I’ve been doing to represent SCCA. First of all, I would like to thank the SCCA for sponsoring me and also to everyone who bought the sweetheart tickets I was selling at the rodeo last year.

While at Marco, I received the Miss Congeniality award and the First Runner-Up Cattlemen’s Sweetheart. Running for the state sweetheart was a great opportunity, and I recommend the program to anyone who has a passion for the Florida beef industry.

As the Runner-Up Sweetheart, I have had the opportunity to help out at events such as the JFCA Livestock Show and most recently the Florida Cattlewomen’s Clay Shoot. It is always a pleasure to travel and meet other cattlemen from across the state. Since coming to Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, I am also meeting some great Georgia cattlemen as well! Right now, I am attending ABAC in Tifton, Georgia, and after earning my A.A., I plan on transferring to the University of Florida to continue studying Animal Science.

Thank you Seminole County for all your love and support! If anyone would like me to attend and/or speak at an event, please don’t hesitate to contact me. It would be my pleasure to come, as my class schedule allows.

Hope to see ya’ll at the 3rd Annual Seminole County Junior Ranch Rodeo!

God bless,

Each member of these event winning teams received a $50 gift card to Tractor Supply, Skips, or Gander Mountain for their win. For overall, the 3rd place team, winning embroidered rope bags, sponsored by the Seminole County Cattlemen’s Association, was the Orange County Junior Cattlemen. The 2nd place team, winning tooled spur straps, sponsored by Wilder Saddlery, was the Seminole County Junior Cattlemen. The 1st place team, winning buckles sponsored by the Seminole County Cattlemen’s Association, was Newsome Cattle Company. Congratulations on all your hard work and accomplishments!

A huge thank you goes to the SCCA board and all our sponsors for their hard work and support of this rodeo to provide a family-friendly event whose proceeds go to the youth in 4-H and Junior Cattlemen’s. Also to the men who helped judge the rodeo, Mr. Caudill and Mr. Gill. And last but not least to Miss Kaitlynn Gill, our FCA sweetheart and Miss Madison Urban for being flag bearers and helping out with whatever was needed during the rodeo. I also had the opportunity to carry the state of Florida flag in the rodeo and am thankful to God for answering our prayers and providing beautiful weather for us all to enjoy!

Following the rodeo, the Seminole County Cattlemen’s Association had their members meeting and also a steak dinner for both the members, and the participants in the rodeo, along with their families. Approximately 241 steaks were served, the largest the SCCA has ever had! The Russell Home in Orlando was also a benefactor of the rodeo’s proceedings. Total, the Russell Home received 600 pounds of canned goods and $600 that was donated at the rodeo’s entrance!

Thank you so much for coming out and supporting our youth! YOU helped make this rodeo a success! We’ll be seeing you next year!

God bless,

Jenna Tulp, Seminole County Cattlemen’s Sweetheart and the SCCA

Second Annual Junior Ranch Rodeo
